How the Age Calculator Works

Enter your date of birth and optionally a reference date (it defaults to today). The calculator returns your exact age in years, months, and days — along with your age expressed as total weeks, total months, and total days lived. All leap years are handled automatically.

Why "Age as of" Matters

The "Age as of" field lets you calculate age at any point in time — not just today. This is useful for legal documents that require age at a specific date, historical research, or working out how old a person was at a particular event. You can enter a past or future date.

How Age is Calculated

The calculation works by counting forward from the birth date. Years are the number of complete birthdays that have passed. Remaining months are counted from the last birthday, and remaining days from the last full month. Leap years are factored into the total days count, which is simply the raw number of days between the two dates.

Uses for an Age Calculator

  • Confirming eligibility for age-restricted activities or services
  • Legal documents requiring exact age at a specific date
  • Calculating the age of historical figures
  • Retirement and pension planning
  • Medical and healthcare contexts requiring precise age
